A classic Northern Beaches rock pool carved into the headland at Avalon.
Avalon's ocean pool is one of the more under-the-radar swims on Sydney's Northern Beaches — a clean rectangle of saltwater set into the sandstone at the southern end of the beach.
It refills with each tide and stays cool well into summer, which is exactly what you want after a hot walk down from the headland.
