The pool
A whitewashed Atlantic tidal pool built into the cliff below the village of Azenhas do Mar.
The pool sits at the foot of the cliff below Azenhas do Mar, one of the prettiest villages of the Sintra coast. It fills and clears with the Atlantic tide and is free to use through the summer months.
Above, the village's seafood restaurants look straight down onto swimmers; the bus from Sintra arrives a few hundred metres away.
