The pool
A small Cycladic-white saltwater pool above Ornos Bay, with the dry hills of Mykonos rolling down to the Aegean.
Kivotos is a long-running boutique on the quieter southern side of Mykonos, set above the calm bay of Ornos. The main pool is a small Cycladic rectangle painted the deepest swimming-pool blue, surrounded by whitewashed walls, bougainvillea, and the gnarled trunks of two old olive trees.
The water is salt-filtered and the music is kept low. Stay for the early evening light, when the white walls turn pink and the Aegean below begins to fill with the sails of returning catamarans.
