The pool
A seawater pool on a rocky platform at the foot of the Santa Caterina cliffs, filled directly from the Tyrrhenian.
Family-owned for five generations, Santa Caterina perches on the cliff between Amalfi and Conca dei Marini. A glass elevator descends to a bathing platform where a seawater pool meets the open Mediterranean.
The water is the same temperature as the sea — exactly the point — and the platform turns into a sun-warmed slab by midday. The hotel's lemon groves grow directly above.
