The pool
A restored saltwater pool at Galveston's grande dame hotel on the Gulf of Mexico.
The Galvez opened in 1911 and has been the most recognizable building on Galveston's seawall ever since. The pool, restored during the recent renovation, runs salt instead of chlorine.
It's a wide, shallow pool with a fountain at the center, the Gulf a block away across Seawall Boulevard.
