The pool
A monolithic mineral pool wrapped around an escarpment of Utah sandstone, deep in the Colorado Plateau.
Built around raw sandstone, Amangiri's main pool combines luxury with minimalism. The deck dissolves into the horizon line of the surrounding canyon. Sitting on 600 acres of protected desert, its concrete-and-stone architecture conceived by Wendell Burnette and Marwan Al-Sayed, was built to read as an extension of the mesa itself.
Mornings begin with a swim before the sun crests the cliffs and the desert turns gold. In the evenings, the same pool reflects the Milky Way with no light pollution for a hundred miles. The water is mineral-rich and gently warmed year-round, a soft contrast to its surroundings.
