The Grand Hyatt Kauai's saltwater lagoon is one of the largest of its kind in Hawaii — a winding system of pools, waterfalls, and slides set against the volcanic black rock of Poipu, with the Pacific just a short walk beyond. The water is filtered seawater and stocked with reef fish; snorkels are available at the towel hut.
The resort sits on the driest part of the island, which means reliable sun even when the north shore is under cloud. Spend the morning in the lagoon, the afternoon at Shipwreck Beach next door.
