The pool
A dramatic infinity saltwater pool spilling toward the turquoise of Zanzibar's north coast.
Essque Zalu sits on a low coral cliff at the northern tip of Zanzibar, where the Indian Ocean turns an almost unreasonable shade of blue. The infinity pool stretches out toward the horizon, and the line where the salt water meets the sea is essentially invisible.
Mornings here are quiet — just the breeze through the makuti roof and the sound of dhows on the water.
